Guado al Tasso Matarocchio 2022

The 2022 Matarocchio, Guado al Tasso’s 100% Cabernet Franc, is one of the most sophisticated, polished Matarocchios to date. It’s a wine that speaks with a whisper rather than a shout. Open-knit aromatics meld into a core of vibrant, red-toned fruit. The Matarocchio typically needs a few years to be at its best, which I expect will be the case here as well. Production is down sharply to just 3,000 bottles, as opposed to the more typical 8,000-9,000.
