Albaclara
The wine
Inspired by the splendid dawns which rise over its vineyards, this Sauvignon Blanc features grapes that are hand-picked in the vineyards of Leyda.
Vinification
Sauvignon Blanc, a grape variety with an important personality, fully expresses itself in the world’s selected areas of real election, among which are traditionally noted the Loire Valley, New Zealand and Friuli and, in more recent times, in Chile, specially the coastal zone of Leyda. Its name is inspired by the splendid dawns which rise over its vineyards. Albaclara is a pure Sauvignon Blanc, whose grapes are hand-picked in the vineyards of Leyda.
Winemaking
Harvested grapes were brought to the cellar, destemmed and delicately pressed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks for 12 to 15 days at a low temperature to preserve the freshness of the grapes. The wine was left to age on the lees and delicate pump overs were performed every two weeks.
Historical Data
After visiting and falling in love with the Maipo Valley area of Chile, Marchese Piero Antinori, Honorary President of Marchesi Antinori, one of the oldest Italian family-owned fine wine producers, decided to produce a distinctive red blend together with the Matte family, former owner of the Haras de Pirque estate. After creating the estate’s flagship wine, Albis, the partnership successfully progressed as Marchesi Antinori took over the vineyards and winemaking operations in 2014 until the full acquisition in 2017. Haras de Pirque is located in the northern part of the Maipo Province in central Chile in an area that enjoys extremely favorable climatic and geographic conditions and is already well known for its production of high quality wines.
