Albis
The wine
Symbol of tradition and innovation representing the union of two cultures, Albis is the estate’s icon, a wine with great personality and elegance.
Vinification
Albis is the property’s icon wine, a wine with great personality and elegance. Its vineyards were planted in 1992 in the upper part of the Maipo Valley and its plots are constantly selected to obtain excellent flavors from each of its varieties, full maturity and thus the best quality of grapes. It is an elegant and seductive blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère from organic vineyards that represents the union of two hemispheres, of the New World and the Old World, with the precise intent of creating a great wine in the very heart of the Maipo Valley.
Winemaking
Harvested Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère grape varieties were brought to the cellar and fermented separately. Cold maceration was performed, followed by traditional fermentation to enhance natural concentration levels and the grapes’ quality profile. Maceration was carried out in French oak fermentation vats. Albis is aged in French oak barriques for about 18 months before being bottled.
Historical Data
After visiting and falling in love with the Maipo Valley area of Chile, Marchese Piero Antinori, Honorary President of Marchesi Antinori, one of the oldest Italian family-owned fine wine producers, decided to produce a distinctive red blend together with the Matte family, former owner of the Haras de Pirque estate. After creating the estate’s flagship wine, Albis, the partnership successfully progressed as Marchesi Antinori took over the vineyards and winemaking operations in 2014 until the full acquisition in 2017. Haras de Pirque is located in the northern part of the Maipo Province in central Chile in an area that enjoys extremely favorable climatic and geographic conditions and is already well known for its production of high quality wines.
