Prunotto’s Barbaresco is produced from vineyards in Treiso and Neive in the Barbaresco area, it’s the elegant expression of Nebbiolo. An aristocratic wine yet accessible and pleasant. It is aged in large oak barrels of varying capacities to enhance balance and softness on the palate.
Winemaking
Carefully selected grapes were brought to the cellar, destemmed and crushed. Maceration on the skins lasts for a period of approximately 8 days at a temperature that does not exceed 30 °C (86 °F). Malolactic fermentation is completed before the end of winter. Barbaresco is aged in oak barrels of varying capacities for approximately one year.
Historical Data
The Prunotto estate is located in Alba, the most important city in the Langhe area halfway between Barbaresco and Barolo on the right side of the Tanaro river, on gentle plains surrounded by vineyards in the Langhe and Roero territories. The natural beauty of the gently rolling hills alternate with small sloping valleys covered by rows of meticulously cultivated vineyards. The Antinori family, charmed by such rich natural beauty, unique vineyards and soils, decided to invest time and energy in this terroir to make Prunotto one of the most important winemaking estates in the Piedmont region.
Tasting Notes
Barbaresco 2021 is an intense garnet red color. The nose delivers complex aromas of red fruit and hints of spices. The palate is full-bodied, velvety and closes with a persistent aftertaste.
