Cabernet Franc
Galantas HDP

The wine

Produced from organic vineyards in the Maipo Valley to express the vibrant elegance and finesse of Cabernet Franc in this unique terroir.

Vinification

Galantas represents the maximum expression of Cabernet Franc in the Maipo Andres valley. The grapes are sourced from Haras de Pirque’s organic vineyards, situated in the Maipo Andes valley at over 2300 feet (700 meters) above sea level. Here Cabernet Franc succeeds in expressing to the maximum degree its important potential, much assisted by the cool nights of the Andres foothills. This wine expresses the characteristic vibrance, elegance, and finesse of this unique terroir.

Winemaking

Cabernet Franc vineyard plots and Careménère were fermented separately in stainless steel tanks and French oak casks. The cold, pre-fermentation maceration lasts from three to five days and aims to fully bring out the aromatic componenets of the grapes. After the fermentation, which utilizes solely indigenous yeasts, the wine went into barrique where it ages for fourteen months.

Historical Data

After visiting and falling in love with the Maipo Valley area of Chile, Marchese Piero Antinori, Honorary President of Marchesi Antinori, one of the oldest Italian family-owned fine wine producers, decided to produce a distinctive red blend together with the Matte family, former owner of the Haras de Pirque estate. After creating the estate’s flagship wine, Albis, the partnership successfully progressed as Marchesi Antinori took over the vineyards and winemaking operations in 2014 until the full acquisition in 2017. Haras de Pirque is located in the northern part of the Maipo Province in central Chile in an area that enjoys extremely favorable climatic and geographic conditions and is already well known for its production of high quality wines.
