Hussonet
The wine
Named for one of the most famous foals in Chilean horse racing, this elegant and charming wine shows the territorial identity of the Maipo Andes.
Vinification
Hussonet recalls the name of one of the most famous foals in Chilean horse racing. It is an elegant and charming wine with great territorial identity. The vineyards are located in the prestigious Maipo Valley, ideal for the production of high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon. And the vineyards are certified organic by CERES, an international inspection and certification body for organic food, textiles, and more.
Winemaking
The different vineyard parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon were fermented separately both in stainless steel vats and French oak. Cold maceration was performed over a 3‐to‐5‐day period to enhance aromatic compounds. Once alcoholic fermentation was complete, the wine was transferred to barriques where it aged for 12 months. The wine is then aged another 12 months in the bottle.
Historical Data
After visiting and falling in love with the Maipo Valley area of Chile, Marchese Piero Antinori, Honorary President of Marchesi Antinori, one of the oldest Italian family-owned fine wine producers, decided to produce a distinctive red blend together with the Matte family, former owner of the Haras de Pirque estate. After creating the estate’s flagship wine, Albis, the partnership successfully progressed as Marchesi Antinori took over the vineyards and winemaking operations in 2014 until the full acquisition in 2017. Haras de Pirque is located in the northern part of the Maipo Province in central Chile in an area that enjoys extremely favorable climatic and geographic conditions and is already well known for its production of high quality wines.
