Masseria Maìme

Salento IGT
Tormaresca Masseria Maime

The wine

The most exclusive and iconic interpretation of Negroamaro. Masseria Maìme is ruby red in color and presents fruity notes of sour cherries and plums. Elegant tannins and a well-balanced finish.

Vinification

The Masseria Maìme estate extends along the Adriatic coast and covers an area of about 500 hectares (1,235 acres), 350 hectares (864 acres) of which are planted with vines.
Uninterrupted rows of vineyards lie between this unique countryside’s woodlands and pine forests stretching out as far as the eye can see until fading into the Adriatic Sea.

Winemaking

The grapes were delicately crushed and transferred into stainless steel vats where alcoholic fermentation occurred at a controlled temperature of 26-28 °C (79-82 °F). Gentle pump overs and délestage (rack and return) were performed during maceration on the skins for a gradual, balanced extraction of color, flavor, and aromatic compounds, which extended over a period of 15-18 days. Approximately 40-60% of the wine was then aged in 500 liter-capacity tonneaux and the other percentage in French oak barriques.

Tormaresca

Viticulture in Apulia is history and, at the same time, innovation. The Tormaresca estate is the expression of these two spirits.

The Antinori family started investing in the area in 1998 as they believed that this is one of the most promising regions in Italy for producing top quality wines with a strong territorial identity.
